Rivers of Life – August 13, 2017

Rivers of Life

August 13, 2017

There are 72 Bible Verses about Rivers and Streams in the bible.

A River and a Stream are both fast moving bodies of water, but a River is called a River because it is larger, deeper, and longer than a Stream, as for a Stream it is much than a River not as deep, some you can even walk across. Another difference is that a Stream is a small flowing water.

What is the difference between a creek a stream and a river?
A canal also has moving water, but is man-made. Generally, the difference is size: you can step over a brook, jump over a creek, wade across a stream, and swim across a river.

JESUS – is the WELL and SPRING

DISCIPLES – are the RIVERS

Your are a River of influence to somebody.

Are you a river or a stream?

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)
7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.

Psalm 1:2-3 (NLT)
2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.

There Are Different Rivers In The Bible

1. River of Healing

2 Kings 5:8-14

It happened when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent word to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Now let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.” So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots and stood at the doorway of the house of Elisha. Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.”
But Naaman was furious and went away and said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.’ “Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. Then his servants came near and spoke to him and said, “My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and he was clean.

2 Kings 5:10

Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.”

2. River of New Beginnings

Mark 1:4-5

John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And all the country of Judea was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

3. River of Supplies

1 Kings 17:2-7

The word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. “It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.”
So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook. It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

4. River of Wonders and Miracles

Psalm 78:13-16
He divided the sea and caused them to pass through, And He made the waters stand up like a heap. Then He led them with the cloud by day nd all the night with a light of fire. He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them abundant drink like the ocean depths.
He brought forth streams also from the rock and caused waters to run down like rivers.

5. River of Decision

Genesis 41:1-3
Now it happened at the end of two full years that Pharaoh had a dream, and behold, he was standing by the Nile. And lo, from the Nile there came up seven cows, sleek and fat; and they grazed in the marsh grass. Then behold, seven other cows came up after them from the Nile, ugly and gaunt, and they stood by the other cows on the bank of the Nile.
