FROM INDEPENDENCE TO DEPENDENCY – FROM BONDAGE TO FREEDOM

EWOC – July 5, 2020

True independence will always require dependency

Let me explain…….

  1. The Forming Of The Nation Of Israel

In Exodus we see the journey from independence out of Egypt to become depended to God.

If they wanted to be independent, the Israelites had to leave Egypt. Independence always requires payment (Freedom is not free).

The Israelites had to leave Egypt if the wanted to enjoy independency and freedom but were very COMFORTABLE but miserable, they only CAME OUT because of CIRCUMSTANCES.

  1. The Nation Of The United States of America Has A Similar History

On July 4, 1776, the 13 colonies claimed their independence from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States.

Before 1776, the United States of America was not a country. The individual states were colonies of the British Empire. They were called British Colonies. This means that the King and Parliament of Great Britain ruled the Colonies.

– Psalm 118:5 [ESV] Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.

– 1 Peter 2:16 [ESV]Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.

– Galatians 5:1 [NKJV] Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

– Psalm 33:12 [KJV] Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

  1. The Nation Of The Almighty God

2 Corinthians 6:16-18 NLT

16 And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:

“I will live in them
and walk among them.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
17 Therefore, come out from among unbelievers,
and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord.
Don’t touch their filthy things,
and I will welcome you.
18 And I will be your Father,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”

– John 8:36 [NIV] So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

– Galatians 5:13 [NLT] For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

Galatians 5:1 So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.

YOU CAN ONLY BE ENJOYING INDEPENDENCE FORM SIN IF YOU BECOME DEPENDENT ON JESUS CHRIST
